How’s it going?
How’s it going with beginning to read Homer’s Odyssey?
Pat and I have discussed a couple of things that seem helpful:
– don’t read the whole introduction before you start reading the book (again, certainly read pages xiii – xviii)
– do a “superficial” read first (as laid out in “How to Read a Book” chapter 4); this translation certainly allows for a relatively easy straight read
– refer back to the introduction at times (and certainly read the whole introduction before you start a second, analytical read)
I’m a little more than half-way through the book. Andre is right. It gets better and better.
How is it going for you?
– Phil
