Carolyn Jones (SW)
Carolyn Jones is Vice President of Human Resources for W Hotels Worldwide, a collection of luxury design hotels that has established itself as a global lifestyle authority.
Since the launch of the W brand in 1998, 20 W properties have opened up in major cities around the world – from New York to San Diego to Sydney – with a single philosophy of style and substance in mind. In her role, Jones oversees the brand’s most valuable resources – its talent. She is responsible for leading talent culture and development, skill development, service practices, organizational design, labor relations and all other people matters for W Hotels.
During her 10-year tenure at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, W’s parent company, Jones has held a number of senior-level offices including Regional Director of Human Resources, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide based in San Diego (January 2003 – May 2004); Area Director of Human Resources, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide based in San Francisco (February 2001 – January 2003) and Director of Human Resources, Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco (October 1996 – February 2001).
In 2000, she was the recipient of the Chairman’s Award, given by Starwood Hotels for emulating company values and leading company impact.
Before joining Starwood, Jones spent 10 years in operations and human resources for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, where she worked as a generalist and trained leadership teams internationally.
Canadian-born Jones earned a degree in Hotel Management from Ryerson University in Toronto and has taught HR management courses at Vancouver Community College. She resides in New York City.
