Hello,<br><br>My name is Jacqui Cain. I have an MA in Humanities, where I focused in Shakespeare studies, but by profession I work in developmental English at the community college level and am working on my third Open Education Resources grant. When not working, I am part of a local theater troupe, enjoy films, yoga, and cooking...hiking too when the weather is cooperative.<br>
<br>I joined the reading group because I realized a few years back that almost all the reading I do now is non-fiction, but there are dozens of books that I always meant to get around to reading, and that wasn't going to happen unless I got really serious about it. So last year I read <u>Skylark</u> and <u>Moby Dick</u>, the year before it was <u>The Inferno</u> and some plays by Sophocles, and this year it is <u>The Iliad</u>, and probably <u>The Decameron</u> (could be <u>Don Quixote</u>, haven't made up my mind yet).<br>
<br>I am also glad for the opportunity to read <u>The Iliad</u> because I am going to see <i>Troilus and Cressida</i> again in the Spring, and I am hoping it will make some of the confusing sections in that play more clear. Like many here, this is my first time in a formal reading group, and I am looking forward to our future discussions and getting to know everyone.<br>

What I am finding is that as my experience in life grows, my reading also changes. Different things become important. I didn't like the Illiad much in college - I preferred the Odyssey, but there are things now that I really like about the Illiad. I am also interested in this translation.
